Israeli-swiss violinist and pedagog, Head of the Violin Class at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.

 

Prof. Bendayan previously  held the position of Head of the Strings Department and for five years, until October 2020, the position of Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.

 

In parallel and for more than a decade Lihay Bendayan held the position of Professor of Violin at the HEMU – the Lausanne University of Music, site of Sion.

 

Started his violin studies with Prof. Michael Gaisler in Israel at the age of 5. At the age of 9 Lihay Bendayan performed to Maestro Isaac Stern who recommended him to the legendary teacher Ilona Feher, the teacher of Shmuel Ashkenazi, Pinchas Zuckerman and Shlomo Mintz, with whom he studied until the age of 13. He later studied with Prof. Yair Kless in Israel, Prof. Rodney Friend in London, Jean-Pierre Wallez in Geneva, Miriam Solovieff in Paris and during several years with the hungarian Virtuoso Tibor Varga in Switzerland.

 

Prof. Lihay Bendayan combines with passion his concert’s career with an intense pedagogical activity. He is regularly invited to give Master-classes at prestigious universities around Europe such as the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, the Royal Academy of Music KMH in Stockholm, Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hämburg and Würzburg Hochschules in Germany, the Faculty of Music at the University of Belgrade, the Cracow Academy of Music, and at international master-courses such as the London Masterclasses series, the Bavarian Academy of Music in Hammelburg, the Musicalta academy in France, the Ameropa Music Festival in Prague and others. His students from around the world are serving in key positions worldwide and are winners of international competitions.
