Trombonist/bassist/educator Dan Fox has been performing and teaching worldwide for several decades. Recent performances include The Great Gatsby Ballet with Honk Kong Ballet in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Freelance performances on trombone include traditional and straight ahead jazz concerts with Sheila Jordan, Herb Pomeroy, Gene Krupa Orchestra, Cab Calloway Orchestra, and more modern jazz with Jamie Cullum, Ben Monder, John Tchicai, Matthew Garrison, Walt Weiskopf, and The Either/Orchestra. Also played in big bands backing jazz legends Louis Bellson, Paquito D’Rivera, Joe Lovano, Randy Brecker and Clark Terry.
Performances on electric bass include bands such as The Tokens, Frankie Ford, The Cadillacs, The Chantels, and Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame member Charlie Thomas and the Drifters.
Dan has performed throughout the US, Europe, South America and Asia. Venues performed include the Monterey Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Mallorca Jazz Festival, Boston Globe Jazz Festival, the Kennedy Center, as well as famous clubs including Blues Alley, The Knitting Factory, and The Bitter End. Dan’s trombone is featured on the soundtrack for the major motion picture The Honeydripper directed by John Sayles, and many other television shows.
As an educator, Dan has taught at Berklee College of Music, but also grown his own music school, Morningside Music Studio, since 2007, specializing in teaching jazz, blues and rock ensembles for all ages. He has also taught trombone and improvisation masterclasses at Gezmataz Festival in Genoa, Italy, Mallorca Jazz Festival Interlochen School of the Arts, Berklee, and at several universities.
